May Food Drive Yields Over $3000 in Food

June 10, 2014

Thanks to the generous citizens of the Greater Newburyport Community who donated to help feed the hungry in our area. The May food drive at Shaws Supermaket in Port Plaza yielded over $3000 in food that was delivered to the Salvation Army and Community Service in Newburyport; Our Neighbor’s Table and Community Action in Amesbury; and Pettengill House in Salisbury.

We appreciate the efforts of our volunteer crew and the local employees of Shaw’s Supermarket for their enthusiastic assistance.

It won’t take long for pantry shelves to be empty once again, so please take every opportunity to donate food directly to the food pantries or through other local food drives.

Pennies conducts Food Drives twice every year in May and November. Anyone interested in volunteering or
donating to this program can check our website for further information or email us at pennies@penniesforpoverty.org.
